Efficacy of Micro-Nutrients, Fungicides and Bio-Agents against Sclerotinia Stem Rot (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum) of Indian Mustard

چکیده
Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary is a broad range fungal pathogen which attacks more than 500 species of higher plants (Boland and Hall, 1994; Saharan and Mehta, 2008; Sharma et al.,, 2015a). The pathogen can cause serious losses in yield and quality on numerous important field and vegetable crops (Purdy, 1979). Stem rot of Indian mustard caused by S. sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary has become important in recent years in India and elsewhere with high disease and severe yield losses (Ghasolia et al., 2004; Sharma et al., 2017). Management of S. sclerotiorum is a major challenge faced by plant pathologists. Management is difficult, uneconomical and inconsistent due to the presence of wide host range and long-term survival of the resting sclerotia. Numerous reports indicate that amendment of soil with certain organic or inorganic matters is effective in controlling soil borne pathogens. Biological control of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary by Pseudomonas and Bacillus species on canola petals
Four bacterial strains, Pseudomonas chlororaphis (PA-23), Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (BS6), Pseudomonas sp. (DF41) and B. amyloliquefaciens (E16) which had been found to have biocontrol activity in vitro assays against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, the causal agent of stem rot of canola, were tested for their efficacy in greenhouse and field conditions. Microscopic studies showed that P. chlororaph...
متن کاملBiocontrol traits and antagonistic potential of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain NJZJSB3 against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, a causal agent of canola stem rot.
Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain NJZJSB3 has shown antagonism of several phytopathogens in vitro, especially Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Both the broth culture and cell suspension of strain NJZJSB3 could completely protect the detached leaves of canola (Brassica napus) from S. sclerotiorum infection. In pot experiments, the application of strain NJZJSB3 cell suspension (10(8) CFU/ml) decreased t...

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, the causal agent of Sclerotinia stem rot, is a devastating fungal pathogen of soybean that can cause significant yield losses to growers when environmental conditions are favorable for the disease. The development of resistant varieties has proven difficult. However, poor resistance in commercial cultivars can be improved through additional breeding efforts and underst...
متن کاملThe First Report of Postharvest Stem Rot of Kohlrabi Caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in Korea
In March 2014, a kohlrabi stem rot sample was collected from the cold storage room of Daegwallyong Horticultural Cooperative, Korea. White and fuzzy mycelial growth was observed on the stem, symptomatic of stem rot disease. The pathogen was isolated from the infected stem and cultured on potato dextrose agar for further fungal morphological observation and to confirm its pathogenicity, accordin...
